Waikato 2020 Communications Trust

Director, Janet Leggett:

The Trust appointed Janet as its first full time Director in March 2008 and Janet continues in the role in 2009 in a part time capacity.  Janet has experience in the Waikato community and voluntary sector as Waikato Young Enterprise Scheme Coordinator and a background in news and feature journalism and freelance writing.  Contact Janet director@wainet.org  and phone 07 825 9984.

Trust Chair, Dr Ted Zorn:

is a founding member of the Trust. Ted is Professor of Management Communication at the Waikato Management School, Waikato University and is leader of a multi-year research project funded by the Foundation for Research, Science & Technology on the Impacts of ICTs in the Workplace and Communities.

WaiNet Webmaster and Trustee, Michele Mason:

Michele michele@wainet.org is a founding member of the trust. She is an e-Learning Web Developer and Web Designer in the Courseware Development and Support Centre at the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec). The Computers in Homes programme was the driving force behind her joining Waikato 2020.

Treasurer, Peter Scott:

Peter joined the trust in 2006. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds several Board directorships and advisory roles. Peter provides governance and financial expertise for the Trust, along with his experience in the IT field.

Trustees:

Stephen Harlow

is an instructional designer at Wintec and a founding member of the trust. Stephen volunteers his skills as workshop facilitator and a designer and developer of WaiNet sites.

John O’Donoghue

is owner/operator of two businesses, Velocity Networks and Solution Evolution. Velocity Networks is responsible for developing the urban fibre network in Hamilton city centre.  John’s community involvement also includes being a Trustee of Waikato Community Broadcasters Charitable Trust.

Andrea Goble

is Chief Executive of Community Waikato and brings extensive knowledge and experience of the Waikato volunteer community and social service network to the Trust.

Phil Grey

is our newest Trustee. He is Manager of Hamilton’s Community Radio. Phil brings to Waikato 2020 experience and interest in delivering community growth and development from ICT tools like podcasting.

Members and support people:
In addition to our Trustees we have an equally talented group of support and resource people as Associate Trustees and Members.

Vanessa Mohi-Goodchild (Vanessa@wainet.org) is a volunteer web site developer for the Trust and has project managed eDay 2007 and 2008 and WaiNet during recent years.

Dr Nittaya Campbell was a founding member of the Trust and until recently a Trustee and project champion for Computers in Homes. She is a senior lecturer in Management Communication at the Waikato Management School. She teaches and researches ICT and intercultural issues.

Dean Hutt is Moodle Administrator at Wintec. He has been a trustee and currently volunteers his substantial technical expertise and experience by supporting Trust events and staff.

Bruce Kingsbury; as Chair of Waikato Linux Users Group Bruce is a strong advocate for free and open source software.

Smita Biswas is Digital Manager for Hamilton Public Libraries and has recently joined Waikato 2020 with a particular interest in supporting WaiNet
